What 27 weeks of unemployment does to the American worker

With the American economy improving, the average time for an American worker to be unemployed has dropped from 25 weeks, to just 13 before finding a new job. While the job market continues to improve, over one third of those who are still unemployed have been so for over 27 weeks. This long-term unemployment is having negative effects on the workforce, and more importantly on those who are unemployed.
