Your city is going to be able to build it’s own broadband and blow evil cable companies away

Next week the Federal Communications Commission in the United States is posed to vote to support city’s rights to create their own fiber networks. In a vote that is widely anticipated to pass 3 – 2, it will give cities the opportunity to create their own wireless networks, causing competition with major cable companies. Currently there are 19 states in the U.S. that have laws that prevent cities from controlling their own broadband networks, but this vote will set a precedent that major cable companies may not be happy with.
