Solar jobs roughly equal coal jobs in the U.S.

According to Vox and the Solar Foundation, the 173,000 people currently employed in the solar energy sector is roughly equal to the minors, power plant workers and transporters currently working in the coal energy sector. It is difficult to get accurate numbers though on these industries, as they are headed in opposite directions with employee numbers in the solar sector expected to grow, while coal numbers are expected to shrink. The one catch? Solar energy provides less than half a percent of the U.S.’ total energy, while coal provides 40 percent.
