Eleanor Goldberg at The Huffington Post takes a look at a new study on poverty from the World Bank. The study found that two-thirds of the poorest people in the world (those who live on less than $1.25 a day) live in just five countries: India, China, Nigeria, Bangladesh and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The study also found that the proportion of the global population living in extreme poverty dropped from 36 percent to 18 percent between 1990 and 2010.
