23% of Americans would prefer a female boss (and that’s a record high)

Gallup has released some interesting findings from a survey of workers in the United States. When asked if they would prefer a male or female boss, 23 per cent of those surveyed would prefer to work for a woman, 41 per cent have no preference, and 35 per cent would prefer to work for a man. While the numbers may not seem positive at first glance, it’s important to note that the number of respondents who would prefer to work for a woman is the highest it has been since Gallup started asking this question in 1953, when the just 5 per cent of respondents answered the same way. Derek Thompson at The Atlantic takes a closer look at the survey’s findings.
