Newly published research indicates that real estate developments that are located, designed, and built to the standards of LEED for Neighborhood Development will have dramatically lower rates of driving compared to the average development in the same metropolitan region. Even the worst projects are estimated to generate 40 percent less driving than average developments. In turn, this will decrease the amount of carbon emissions, thus promoting healthier and happier neighbourhoods.
